I was back in New York for another edition of one of the most exciting festivals. The Festival of New Trumpet Music is of course all about the trumpet, but offers a musical variety like no other festival. Led by Dave Douglas, the 17th edition again presented a lot of great music and countless great trumpeters.
I take care of the website, Facebook and some organizational stuff. I also designed the graphics for the festival.
The tribute to Booker Little, the award of recognition to Jimmy Owens and the concerts of Hugh Ragin, John Raymond and Josh Lawrence were the many highlights of this year. I was especially excited to meet trumpeter and electronics wizard Sarah Belle Reid and play in one of her works.
It’s always great to meet a lot of new musicians and work with the small team of the festival.
