Greenleaf Music Turns 20

The music industry is constantly changing, demanding flexibility and resilience. For many years, Dave Douglas has been a role model in this regard, inspiring me with the way he embraces challenges and transforms them into opportunities. One of his most visionary steps was founding his own label Greenleaf Music two decades ago.

After our first personal encounters, several collaborations followed — including a concert with a big band and, for almost ten years now, our ongoing work together on the Festival of New Trumpet Music in New York, which he co-founded.

Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to more than 30 releases on his label. For 26 of them, I created the design — often incorporating the artworks or photographs of other artists into the visual concept. This process has been not only exciting and rewarding, but also an inspiring way to discover incredible music and musicians.

There’s a special joy in finally holding the finished product in my hands, or spotting our work featured in reviews and year-end lists across the globe.
