Over twenty years ago I discovered Erik Truffaz. I bought his record “The Dawn” and saw him live at the Jazz Festival Willisau for the first time. The sound of his trumpet and the music he created with his quartet grabbed me immediately. A few years later I had the chance to invite this band to the local music club in my home town during their release tour for the following album “Bending New Corners”. An integral part of his band was rapper Nya, who happened to grow up in the same town as I did and was happy to come back “home” to perform.
Ever since I followed his work and was now invited to present and talk about his music as part of the Jazz Collection broadcast on radio SRF 2 Kultur.
