Ten years ago I was commissioned to write a piece for the Ballbreaker Ensemble. This was a large ensemble which for many years was part of the Jazzwerkstatt festival in Bern. It was an honor to write for this powerful band and to work with these many great musicians and friends of mine.
Unfortunately there was no festival this year, so I took it as an opportunity to create a video from the recordings of my piece and the photos to reminisce a bit about the first year without a festival after thirteen editions.
These are wonderful memories of a week full of music, the bundled power of a large ensemble and the wonderful soloists Marc Stucki (tenor saxophone) and Andreas Tschopp (trombone).
