From time to time, I manage to mention a few new releases by trumpet players here. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I sometimes feel it’s important to do my small part in helping this music reach a few new people.
The trumpet has been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember, and I’m always amazed by the wide variety of music it can help create and shape.
The list begins with Ingrid Jensen’s first album as a bandleader in 20 years. To me, she is one of the best trumpeters, and I find it particularly impressive that she continues to evolve. The photo is from her concert with Artemis at the Langnau Jazz Nights 2024.
Also all the other trumpeters featured here are a constant source of inspiration for me. Enjoy listening.
